The Enoch Cycle

Three books carry Enoch's name — one kept whole by Ethiopia, one surviving only in Slavonic, one in Hebrew — and around them stand Jubilees and the oldest star-calendar found at Qumran. These are the actual texts, with an honest word on each. They belong to you. Read them yourself.

Enoch is the man the Bible says "walked with God, and was not, for God took him." Around that one verse grew a whole literature — ancient, serious, and read as scripture long before anyone drew a line between what stayed in and what fell away. The three books of Enoch come from three different traditions and were each set aside in a different way. Jubilees retells Genesis alongside them, and the Astronomical Book preserves the calendar Enoch was said to have brought back from the heavens.

"Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied… 'Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints.'" — Jude 1:14, quoting 1 Enoch 1:9
